Daniel Heinrich Schmidt- A German from Strelitz he arrived at the Cape in 1768. He served as a sword-cutler in the service of the Dutch East India Company from 1768 to 1778. He received his burgher rights as a silversmith in 1779. He married Helena Elizabeth Bastroo on the 26th of September 1779. He died on the 9th of December 1811.
