Bünning, Johan Anton

Johan Anton Bünning
Active 1758- 1793.
He was from Bremen and arrived at the Cape in 1758 as a soldier in the service of the Dutch East India Company. As a member of the Lutheran Church he took an active role in having the Lutherans allowed freedom of worship at the Cape. He was commissioned by the Dutch Reformed Church of Stellenbosch to make an inkstand, the mounts and bells for two alms bags, and a table bell in 1773.
