Jeremy and June Astfalck have been in the antique business since the late 1980’s, dealing primarily in silver. Jeremy is a silversmith with years of experience in the repair and restoration of fine silver. He is also one of South Africa’s leading silver dealers and specializes in the more unusual aspects of silver collecting. Silver by the top masters and items of a unique nature are a specialty.

In 1994 they opened The Old Corkscrew in Franschhoek, a picturesque town which is nestled in the Winelands of the Western Cape. Now known as the gourmet capital of South Africa, it is a firm favourite for those visitors to the Cape who expect nothing but the best.

A comfortable fifty minute drive from Cape Town allows one to enjoy lunch or dinner on one of the many award winning wine farms or the magnificent restaurants in the town itself. This coupled with a visit to The Old Corkscrew has become a highlight for many of our local and international visitors.

Due to its location in this wine producing area, many wine related antiques can be found, including Africa’s largest collection of antique corkscrews. The specialization in exceptional pieces covering silver, decorative arts and the unusual ensures a uniquely memorable visit.
